#391 Light Goes

December 15, 2023
And there goes the light.

Transcript

A group of adventurers sit on a tile floor. From left to right: sad-looking Builder-Markgraf, guard munching on a snack banana, Captain of the Guard wearing plate armor, holding a helmet in his hands, hurting and head bandaged; Gheralf wearing shabby clothing and writing on paper, Vayandil wearing monocle and drawing on paper, the Aviatar, ultimate shining warrior, sharpening the blade of a gardening hoe.
Narration: We’ve gone downwards for a while now. And seen nothing out of the ordinary. It’s the good old Stately Tower. Just more underground than usual.

A black glimmering gate appears and rises from the floor, catching the Aviatar's attention.
Narration: We have been telling people to go upwards if they want to exit. Or continue even higher if they want to try to be the Lord of the Realm.

The Aviatar walks through the black gate.
Narration: The only major problem we’ve had is that bricks keep falling on Captain of the Guard’s head. It’s a mysterious thing. The Aviatar has tried to offer him many helmets, but the captain keeps refusing.

As the gate closes, the whole room goes black, since the Aviatar was lighting the whole room. Only the eyes of the adventuring party show in the darkness.

As the darkness remains, one of the eyes shut in pain.
SFX: Donk!
Captain of the Guard: Ow, my head!

“Hello. Did you know you can be an official citizen of Buffet?”

Tell me more!
Gheralf

Gheralf says:

The light’s gone! Our light’s gone!

I mean, the Aviatar hasn’t really been needed down here since everything’s mostly OK, but who knows if that will remain to be the case as we descend further!

Vayandil

Vayandil says:

Oh no, I hope we have enough writing sticks... Replicating all this darkness is going to burn through them so much faster.
